Finn’s personal and professional life’s work has been devoted to the exploration of spiritual traditions and modern therapeutic practice, bridging these frameworks to create a holistic, spiritually aware and evidence-based contemporary psychotherapy. A qualified counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist specialising in Resource Therapy and ACT, he is also a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher specialising in the application of meditation methods with mental health challenges, and is the founder of Big Sky Mind and creator of Transpersonal Parts Therapy.
Finn is an ordained Zen Buddhist priest and Dharma teacher, a professed Franciscan Friar of the Holy Celtic Church, and a shamanic practitioner trained in the principles of core shamanism with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. He has studied extensively with many of the great spiritual and contemplative traditions around the world exploring their underlying truths and practices. He has taught Buddhist meditation practice in both secular and Zen centres, Christian contemplative prayer and meditation at interfaith spiritual retreats, and facilitated shamanic training and drumming circles.
Finn has studied Qigong and Daoist meditation with Qigong Master Simon Blow and the Daoist monks of Mt Wudang in China. He has further explored the animist traditions of Norse and Celtic Druidry, being a recognised Bard in the international Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids. His writings on the therapeutic application of divination and the tarot have also been published in various magazines and online publications. This range of experience provides a background of traditional meditation practice, contemporary psychotherapy, and the wisdom of ancient practices which provide important dimensions in the search for spiritual meaning and purpose that often lies at the heart of modern stress, anxiety and neurosis.
With a Clinical Qualification in Resource Therapy, a shamanic practitioner and past lives regression therapist, Finn has developed Transpersonal Parts Therapy which draws on the wisdom of both Western Parts Therapy and techniques designed to access transpersonal parts, be they past lives, higher consciousness, guides or spiritual teachers in “non-ordinary reality”.
Finn has brought together these universal tools and insights, proven spiritual, religious, transpersonal, contemplative and psychological practices that have given people healing, purpose, wisdom and inspiration across many cultures from our most ancient roots, in a contemporary supportive and positive psychotherapeutic counselling environment.
Singer/songwriter and one-time touring muso, Finn is nowadays an avid scuba diver and open water swimmer always on the lookout for new bodies of water to explore. Father of three, grandfather of two, Finn owns no cats, no dogs but has a peculiar and ongoing friendship with manta rays 🙂
